Pre-Race

I am used to having nerves before a race, but usually the onset is about 12-18 hours before race time... I think I am about 85 hours out right now and I am already getting that familiar excited nervous jittery feeling. I have not raced since last October and it really does feel amazing to know that all the training, waking up obscenely early in the morning, and going to bed when it is still light out have been done in preparation for something like this Sunday.

I went for my first open water swim the other day. That was a bit of a shock. Swimming open water is much different than in the pool. The thing I found most unsettling was the fact that it was simply hard to breathe. I don’t think I was warmed up enough (after 5 min breathing was easier), nor was I used to the constricting feel of my wet-suit. All excuses aside, I found it harder than pool swimming. Sighting is something I won’t even delve into yet because let’s be honest, not my strong point. So, yep working on that!

To keep myself occupied and my mind off of the race, for now, I have been cleaning my house... and my car! Never have I seen either in better condition. I found a pair of earrings in the glove compartment, always a nice surprise.

To conclude; my living quarters are now spotless, and I am just as excited and nervous as ever...I guess my next post will be a race report!
