Today was my first official LONG RUN in a LONG time. OK well it was only 55ish minutes, but still! I am happy to report that it felt great. Painful/uncomfortable hip flexors were not an issue. After cruising Gordon Head locale for a bit I found my way over to the Cedar Hill Golf Course chip trail (my 2nd favorite place to run in Victoria, first being Elk Lake). After another 15 minutes there, I cranked up the tempo (well, picked up the pace ever so slightly so I was giving a bit more intensity) for 10 minutes. This change of pace was just what I needed, I was about to hit the bored mark on long run city. After 10 minutes I was rejuvenated and ready for another couple intervals, alas that would not be a smart move, so I eased off and ran back home.
The long run is one of my favorite work-outs and I am very glad that I am able to enjoy it once again. On another positive note, I got a new pair of shoes: the Nike Free Runs. In my favorite color purple! The pictures speak for themselves about how much I enjoy them.
Only a couple more days until I leave for Penticton and experience my first training camp!
