The other day I was on my way out the door for a run when I realized: I needed to wear some warmer clothes. Which got me to thinking... it's already October! Which got me to further thinking of the days of high school xc. The best races of the year were always in the first weeks of October. One thing that stands out vividly is the finish line process. When a runner crosses the finish line he or she is handed a Popsicle stick with their corresponding place number on one end. Then we would have to hand our Popsicle sticks into the results tent, or whoever was holding the clip board. Funny way to do things but it worked!
That was an off hand intro, but thought it would spice things up ;) This week was a red-bull and or highly caffeinated sort of week. Many a mocha were on hand, and let me say those are just the bees knees; not too sweet, but a great kick. School, however, did have a kick. And it kicked my butt this week! Lots of stuff seemed to pile up, and there were not enough hours in a day to do them all. Thankfully the holiday Monday will allow me to catch my breath... and sleep in!
This Sunday is the half marathon, I am hoping that it will not rain, but I don't think I will be that lucky. At this point as long as my cold is somewhat gone I will be happy... and if not: (I'm pretty sure i heard this quote from a one Myke Labelle- the work-out was 200s at the time) "running sick just makes you stronger." Regardless, I am looking forward to the rush a race brings. That's all for now.
Happy holidays.
