One Week to Go

One more week to go and then recovery week ensues. I have really enjoyed the past few weeks of long hard work. Scheduling has often been tight. I found myself packing an entire days worth of meals the night before... this made for a very heavy backpack ;) I also have begun planning several days in advance in terms of when to do certain school papers. I know that after particular training days my brain will turn to mush after 7pm, and trying to think critically is just taking two step forwards on step back, and that really is not utilizing my time. I have learned when this happens the best, most productive thing to do is sleep and attack it the next morning.

So all in all things are just peachy! Wednesday is one of my long days. 6:23am wake-up (every min counts when the sun has not risen) 3ish km technique-focus swim in the morning,core/stretch, eat, school, eat, 4.6km swim with a challenging main set. Then a lovely snack, quick lie down and a deceivingly tough trainer ride. I finished the day strong and came home to eat a great big yam and chicken curried salad (part of it courtesy of Planet Organic). I indulged in several peanut butter coconut cookies and a mug of hot cocoa then a coma for the next 9 hours. It was a long day and the rest of the week brought the same sort of action! The weekend I deem to be the most successful. Long ride with Oak Bay Group and long run thru Beacon Hill park were the highlights. I feel as if things are beginning to fall into place and glide smoothly. – both physically and mentally I am enjoying it all.

Sunday afternoon brought some great time to work on a physics assignment, and read several articles about aboriginal land rights for my Philosophy class. I also spent a fair amount of time organizing plans for the upcoming months (more to come on that later). Many lessons learned this week, both in training, and in academia. Looking forward to one more hard week- thankfully no mid-terms, then some good ol’ fashioned recovery and then reading break! Wow time is flying!
